Deadline is reporting that Wednesday’s producers have already begun assembling a writers’ room to come up with ideas for the return of Wednesday Addams. The report adds Netflix isn’t expected to announce the renewal of the series until early next year. As the third-only show to cross the billion-hours mark, Netflix is smart enough to know that it should renew Wednesday. Most likely, the hang-up lies in how Netflix should explore the spin-off in the future. Should Netflix create an Addams Family universe with more spin-offs? If so, would Wednesday’s success carry over to the other shows? Wednesday might have been popular but it wasn’t without its fair share of detractors. In particular, as much as fans loved Jenna Ortega as the titular Wednesday (and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester), Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones received less-than-warm reception from fans for their portrayal of Gomez and Morticia, respectively. But, that’s making much ado about nothing. What’s all but certain at this point is Wednesday’s return for a second season with Gwendoline Christie possibly coming back to serve as the villain. In the meantime, fans can look forward to watching Jenna Ortega and Percy Hynes White star in Winter Spring Summer or Fall. Meanwhile, Gwendolyn Christie is expected to reprise her role as Lucifer Morningstar in the second season of The Sandman.
