Delany appeared at the premiere of the first episode of the Game of Thrones prequel to deliver a speech wherein he joked about his initial reaction to Game of Thrones back in 2011. Unfortunately, his attempt at humor fell flat among those in attendance. Several audiences mentioned that the statement shocked them, with film critic, Travis Johnson, mentioning in a tweet that he couldn’t “believe someone would say that on [the] mic.”

— Travis Johnson (@CelluloidWhisky) August 17, 2022 Neither Clarke nor Delany has addressed the issue. However, the Foxtel Group has since issued an apology to Clarke. Here is Foxtel’s statement regarding the incident: Clarke is currently one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. The 35-year-old British actress was the star of Game of Thrones as Daenerys Targaryen for the better part of the past decade. It is the role that made her one of the highest-paid actresses in the world in 2017. After Game of Thrones ended, Clarke moved on to work on other big-budget productions. Clarke is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Secret Invasion after landing a starring role in 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story. For House of the Dragon, the highly anticipated debut of the Game of Thrones spin-off will be on August 21 9:00 PM.
