Matt Reeves’ “more grounded” Batman gets a fitting Batmobile
If it isn’t already clear by now, Matt Reeves’ The Batman film is unlike anything else we’ve seen before. It features Robert Pattinson as the titular hero in a more gritty film that places the caped crusader in his earlier days. Perhaps, because of his lack of refinement as a neophyte Defender of Gotham, the movie gives him a bulkier vehicle that looks nothing like the Batmobiles we’ve seen in the past. For example, his POTA movies, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War For The Planet of the Apes, both feel like they could happen in real life as opposed to a more fantastical approach. This relative lack of flash paves the way for more grounded movies with their own unique flair. As we’ve already mentioned, Pattinson’s Batman is less refined and new to the entire superhero thing. Thus, it makes sense that his tools are crude and not as “effective”. This bulkier Mad Max-like Batmobile is a good example of that. It looks nothing like a car that’s been refined over the years and more like a functional vehicle that Batman built to meet his needs. With that said, only time will tell how everything fits together. The Batman is set to hit theaters exclusively on March 4, 2022.
