Bloomberg News claims that Ubisoft Bordeaux asked to push Rift’s release date out of the company’s current fiscal year to May or June 2023 because it is “far behind schedule.” Ubisoft originally planned to release Rift as an expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. However, when it became too big to be a DLC, Ubisoft decided to turn it into a standalone game. But, instead of working on the new Silent Hill games themselves, Konami decided to pawn the IP over to a handful of trustworthy studios. The first one up is the Silent Hill 2 remake, which is a PS5 exclusive that’s also coming to the PC at a later date (probably not the Xbox though)....
After Konami took down images of what some claim was from an in-development Silent Hill game, VGC reports that Konami’s in-house studios and other partner developers are in the process of developing a “remake, full sequel, and story-focused episodic series.” In addition to VGC, industry insiders like NateTheHate and Jeff Grubb have chimed in with their intel from their respective sources.
