While there’s still no telling what’s going to happen in Season 2 of Peacemaker, one character that won’t be there is Bane. James Gunn took to Twitter to set things straight following another rumor of a Bane appearance. In particular, a self-proclaimed insider went and started spreading information online that Peacemaker Season 2 would feature the iconic Batman villain. It took no time for Gunn to shoot down the said rumor, which you can read below:
— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) February 19, 2022 Giant Freakin Robot is a trusted source, but the site has been known to miss the mark now and then. It appears that this is the case as far as Bane’s appearance in the second season of Peacemaker goes. But, if it’s any consolation, Gunn didn’t outright say that Bane isn’t going to appear in the hit HBO Max TV show. His last line, saying that even he doesn’t “fully know” what’s coming and what’s not suggest that there’s still hope for a Bane appearance in Peacemaker. This isn’t the first time that rumors of a Bane appearance in Peacemaker have floated around and this probably won’t be the last. The same thing happened last year, with Gunn debunking the Bane rumors. For what it’s worth, you can’t exactly blame fans for speculating the involvement of Bane in the DCEU. Bane is an iconic Batman villain that’s widely known as being the first to “break” Batman, both literally and figuratively. An imposing physical specimen, Bane was masterfully played by Tom Hardy in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen Bane in a live-action film since, which is a huge shame. If it’s any consolation, a Bane appearance might be on the cards, just not in Peacemaker. Matt Reeves’ The Batman starring Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader is set to premiere on March 4 and HBO Max on April 19. After receiving the AMC Artisan Film seal, The Batman is all but confirmed to get a sequel sometime in the future, which could feature Bane as the main antagonist following the dark knight’s encounter with The Riddler in the upcoming movie.
