One of the first leakers to get people talking about Horizon Forbidden West ahead of The Game Awards is “The Snitch”. The reliable insider recently leaked a screenshot of the map of San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. Fans later speculated that the ever-cryptic tweeter is telling us about a DLC for Forbidden West. Insider Gaming later doubled down on the news by saying that the DLC will be called “Burning Shores” and will arrive in April next year.
— The Snitch (@insider_wtf) December 6, 2022 It makes sense for Guerilla Games and PlayStation Studios to take center stage at The Game Awards on December 8. Two of the company’s biggest exclusives got nominated for GOTY this year. However, many believe it’s a close race between God of War: Ragnarok and Elden Ring. However, with seven nominations, it wouldn’t surprise us if Horizon Forbidden West ends up taking home the crown. Even if that doesn’t happen, the amount of eyes following the shortened showcase makes it the perfect avenue to reveal a DLC for Forbidden West. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of a DLC for Forbidden West. Back in September, Lance Reddick teased its development during a mocap session. Horizon Forbidden West is easily one of this year’s best games, with a third title in the series expected to come out in the future. However, Guerilla might want to save the DLC for later and leave the spotlight to Horizon Call of the Mountain, one of the launch titles for PlayStation VR2. If we believe the rumors that a Zero Dawn remake for the PS5 is in development along with an MMO and a multiplayer spin-off, Guerilla will likely have its hands too full to even think about the threequel. Hopefully, with all of this going on, Sony doesn’t forget about the live-action TV adaptation on Netflix, which will reportedly cover the events that led to humanity’s mass extinction at the hands of the Faro Swarm.
