Unfortunately, while landing Stahelski to helm the film is a big deal, it appears that fans shouldn’t expect to hear more about the movie adaptation soon.
When is the Ghost of Tsushima movie going to release?
Stahelski recently spoke with IGN to talk about why the Ghost of Tsushima live-action adaptation might take a bit longer than expected. After it was confirmed earlier this year, fans believed that it would release within a year or two. However, judging from what Stahelski just said, it’s best not to expect the movie until 2023 if not later. As Chad explains in the interview, he and his team “just want to do it right.” He alludes to the reputation of video game adaptations and assures fans that he is “working very closely with game developers to make sure we stick to what’s so great about it.” To help drive the point that the Ghost of Tsushima movie isn’t coming anytime soon, IGN noted that the film doesn’t yet have a script. If it’s any consolation, the IGN interview reveals that Stahelski is a huge fan of the game. He even mentions that he’s played it several times and it is this fascination with the game that made Chad consider working on the project. Also, Stahelski hinted at the possibility that Daisuke Tsuji, the English voice actor for Jin Sakai, would reprise his role in the live-action adaptation. Although he didn’t specifically state it, he didn’t close the door completely, saying that production hasn’t “gotten that far yet.” In other news, the official title for John Wick 4 has already been “revealed”. Meanwhile, John Wick’s lead actor, Keanu Reeves, just debunked CDPR’s claim that he’s played Cyberpunk 2077 before.
