The update, A Pirate’s Life, introduces characters and storylines straight out of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise by Disney. Naturally, this includes the addition of the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow (emphasis on that Captain), as well as his legendary pirate ship, the Black Pearl. However, while the Black Pearl is indeed now in Sea of Thieves, it won’t go by its original name. Rather, the Black Pearl will be known as the Eternal Freedom in Sea of Thieves. But, make no mistake, it is the very same ship that’s been described as “the only ship that can outrun the Dutchman.” If you’re curious to see how you can get your hands on the Black Pearl in Sea of Thieves, we’ve got just the guide for you.

How to Get the Eternal Freedom in Sea of Thieves

Before anything else, we’ve got some good news and some bad news. The good news is that it’s not difficult to get the Eternal Freedom (aka the Black Pearl) in Sea of Thieves. The bad news is that you literally have to pay for the enigmatic dark pirate ship and its distinctive black hull and sails. In what is easily a missed chance to include Eternal Freedom as a reward for completing the new storyline added to the game with the latest update, the Eternal Freedom will merely be available as a cosmetic set that’s available for purchase at the Pirate Emporium using Ancient Coins. Anyone can purchase the Eternal Freedom set in Sea of Thieves so long as they have 2,499 Ancient Coins. For what it’s worth, getting the Eternal Freedom set does yield some nice benefits. Not to mention, the bundle contains a laundry list of items that players can mix and other with other cosmetics. These items include:

Eternal Freedom Cannons Eternal Freedom Capstan Eternal Freedom Figurehead Eternal Freedom Flag Eternal Freedom Hull Eternal Freedom Sails Eternal Freedom Wheel Eternal Freedom Cannon Flare

Two more cosmetic items that are part of the Eternal Freedom look but not included in the bundle are the Collector’s Eternal Freedom Figurehead and the Collector’s Eternal Freedom Sails. Each one costs 799 Ancient Coins. The way that we see it, you have a right to be disappointed that you can’t get the Eternal Freedom in Sea of Thieves through some story mission, or you can be grateful that you don’t have to jump through several hoops just to get your hands on the game’s version of the Black Pearl. With that said, the price is well worth paying for if you’re a huge fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and want to live out the rest of your seafaring days in Sea of Thieves in style. Either way, it doesn’t matter if you spend money in Sea of Thieves or not. It has a slew of free content that’s available to anyone. Not to mention, if you’re savvy enough, you can actually get enough Ancient Coins to buy the Eternal Freedom without paying money just by playing the game. This is part of the reason why we included Sea of Thieves as one of the best games on the Xbox Game Pass.
