Santa Monica Studio has confirmed that the God of War sequel has gone gold. This phrase is used in many industries to mean that something is complete and will ship at the expected date. In this case, this reaffirms the launch of God of War: Ragnarok on November 9 for the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5.

On behalf of SMS and all of our partners, thank you to the fans for supporting us over the course of development. We’re almost to launch and can’t wait for you to play on November 9! 💙 pic.twitter.com/vptHyKJ1JP — Santa Monica Studio – God of War Ragnarök (@SonySantaMonica) October 7, 2022 The most interesting part is the graphic that the first-party Sony studio uploaded to make the announcement. PlayStation Studios has several developers under its umbrella and it appears that they occasionally help each other out. According to the graphic, eight other studios gave Santa Monica Studio a hand with the game’s development. It’s not clear up to what extent all of the other studios contributed to the upcoming game but it’s clear this was a collaborative effort. As it should be, 2018’s God of War reboot was the best-selling PS4 game. We’d be a lot more surprised if Santa Monica Studio worked on the follow-up alone with minimal help. Having said that, Nixxes Software is surprisingly absent from the list of supporting studios. God of War: Ragnarok is expected to come to the PC after at least a year following Hermen Hulst’s latest statement. Sony will probably wait until the next fiscal year to release the PC port, preferably after Horizon Forbidden West has had its turn. Either way, now that God of War: Ragnarok is ready to hit store shelves, complete with an ESRB rating that teases plenty of gore and swearing, the only thing left to look forward to is the review embargo to be lifted on November 2.
