The fantasy-themed game will release exclusively for PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. PC gamers can also rest assured that Dragon Age will be coming to the only entertainment medium that encompasses old, current, and future generations. That is if you can afford a graphic card.
Dragon Age 4 reveal trailer and behind-the-scenes
Dragon Age 4 received its reveal trailer in 2018, featuring the franchise title, but unnumbered. Then, at GamesCom Opening Night, it got another video showing some behind-the-scenes of the game. At the time, Casey Hudson, game director of the Mass Effect trilogy, said that the team “has been imagining new ways of using next-generation technology to bring the world of Dragon Age to life.” He certainly meant it since, at the time, it wasn’t clear that the game would be a next-generation exclusive. Reportedly in production since 2017, six years is a reasonable amount of time to develop a heavyweight fantasy RPG. However, Bioware developers say this is a passion project that would take nine years in all, which means it started production quite a while ago. Additionally, developers reported that they were able to persuade Electronic Arts to ditch all multiplayer elements from the game, including the co-op system from Dragon Age Inquisition. Anthem’s quick death may have driven Electronic Arts to go along with this suggestion. With no multiplayer, Bioware believes that players can have a more traditional role-playing experience focused on story & characters.
Dragon Age 4 release date
When cross-generation games are announced, players who can’t afford next-generation consoles feel loved and cared for. Although Dragon Age 4 is exclusive to the next generation, reports say there’s still time until its release. During an October earnings call, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen told investors that the next Dragon Age probably wouldn’t arrive until the fiscal year 2022, which ends March 31, 2022. Given the absence of information and announcements, and mass marketing for what it’s worth, sources familiar with the fantasy RPG said the game is on track for a 2023 release. Hopefully, by the time it’s out, the stock of the new consoles will be regularized, and everyone will have the opportunity to upgrade to the next generation and experience the upcoming batch of games. Dragon Age 4 is one of the significant projects Bioware is working on, who also said that they are laying the groundwork for the next Mass Effect, following the release of the Legendary Edition. Although the remake of Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic is in the hands of Aspyr and Electronic Arts and Bioware don’t seem to be involved, they have promised to keep an eye on the remake’s development and that they are looking forward to seeing the Jedis in 4k. Lovers of RPGs have many reasons to be excited about the next generation releases.
