The 40-year-old actor is currently tipped as the fifth-most likely choice to become the next James Bond actor. According to odds data collected by VegasInsider.com, Dan’s odds are 6/1, with an implied probability of 14.29%. His odds have greatly improved in comparison to the beginning of the year, when they were 20/1. A VegasInsider spokesperson commented on this, saying, “Stevens had quite a few projects in 2022 that have raised his profile - Gaslit, Welcome to Chippendales, Cabinet of Curiosities - but it has happened before that someone rose quickly to the top of the candidates’ list and disappeared as fast, so the next few weeks will tell whether he is sticking around.” The British actor first drew international attention for his role as Matthew Crawley in the British historical drama series Downton Abbey. However, Stevens had to leave the series in the third season as he was afraid of being typecast in future roles. In the years after, Dan has appeared in the thriller film The Guest, the adventure film Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, Disney’s live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, the biographical legal drama Marshall, the biographical drama The Man Who Invented Christmas, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, and most recently in Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities. He also starred as the Marvel antihero David Haller in the FX series Legion, which received critical acclaim from critics and audiences. His upcoming roles include Cuckoo, a horror flick set to release next year, and the lead role in the untitled Godzilla vs. Kong sequel which is scheduled to be released on March 15, 2024. Speaking of James Bond, Henry Cavill, who’s the top pick for bookmarkers, has indicated in a recent interview that the role might be a tad too much for his schedule, stating, “I’m quite busy now. I love those guys, Barbara [Broccoli] and Mike [G. Wilson]… Whether I’m considered for the role or not, I don’t know. But it’d be fun to have the conversation, for sure. And if I’m not, then I just want to see what they do with it next, because I think they’re amazing.” However, Cavill still has some time to reevaluate his decision since the search for the next James Bond actor is set to commence in 2023. On top of that, there has been no news of when the 26th James Bond film is set to release. Who knows? Now that Cavill has dropped out of The Witcher, he might finally have enough time to do James Bond.
