Unlike other leaks and rumors though, talks of the Crysis 2 and 3 remasters were started by the official Twitter account of the game. On May 20,  the Crysis Twitter account wrote “They used to call me Prophet”, which is a line from one of Crysis 2’s characters, Major Laurence Barnes, otherwise known as Prophet. On the same day, the Twitter account posted a Crysis 2 screenshot with a photo from Crysis 3 being uploaded a little over a week later on May 28.

Are the Crysis 2 and 3 Remasters Confirmed?

At the moment, Crytek, the studio behind the Crysis games, is yet to confirm the projects. However, they seem all be assured at this point. Not to mention, it would make sense. Crytek released Crysis Remastered back in September 2020 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC. With that said, it’s quite interesting that Crytek is releasing a remaster for Crysis 2 and 3 in the first place. Crysis was widely considered one of the most graphically taxing games when it was first released back in 2007. For years, the game was used as a pseudo-benchmark. It also helped that Crysis actually looked the part of a game that required a lot of power to run. But, because it was released in 2007, getting Crysis to run on modern systems was a pain. On the other hand, Crysis 2 and 3 were released in 2011 and 2013, respectively. This isn’t new, by any means. However, the games aren’t that old either. Then again, releasing a remastered version might just be an easy way of saying that Crytek is updating Crysis 2 and Crysis 3. This way, both games can run on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X without needing backwards compatibility. There’s also the fact Crysis games, by their very nature, weren’t very accessible at the time of their release. Not everyone had a PC that could run Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 well. Not many still do. Although both can be played on consoles, the experience just isn’t the same. Thus, releasing Crysis 2 and 3 remasters for next-gen consoles should help more people jump into the game and see what the fuss was all about. Hopefully, Crytek has an endgame to this. Usually, when developers release remasters, it’s to use it to tease future projects in the same franchise. So, maybe, just maybe, Crytek will confirm that Crysis 4 is coming after the Crysis 2 and 3 remasters? Here’s to hoping that Crytek stops with all the teasing and confirms the remasters soon.
