The success of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 means that the studio can now focus on expanding the franchise more. Warzone 2.0 includes a new DMZ game mode that features AI enemies alongside human opponents in what players have dubbed Call of Duty’s version of The Divisions’ Dark Zone. The Call of Duty series is also expanding more into the mobile arena. We already have a Call of Duty Mobile game, but Activision plans on connecting a new mobile version to Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0. Call of Duty Warzone Mobile will be the latest addition to the series. The new mobile game will launch with familiar game modes and locations from the original Warzone and link the weapon progression to the current games in the series. Warzone Mobile will feature Domination and Team Deathmatch game modes set in locations within the Verdansk map. Several content creators were invited to try out the new game and they have shared gameplay footage that showcases the smaller 5v5 multiplayer modes. Bobby Plays shared an eight-minute video on his Youtube channel of him playing the Domination game mode. Domination and Team Deathmatch provide an additional way for players to level up their weapons outside of the traditional Battle Royale mode. Weapon progression will carry over from Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 2. The new mobile version of Warzone’s battle royale will have up to 120 players in a single match. It will be set in the original version of Verdansk before it was changed in Warzone. Call of Duty Warzone Mobile was officially announced in September 2022. The game is being co-developed by Activision Shanghai, Beenox, Digital Legends, and Solid State studios. All these developers are subsidiaries of Activision. “Leveraging new unified technology across Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, and Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, players can share many social features (like friends and chat channels) and cross-progression enabling a shared Battle Pass and more for a connected Call of Duty experience,” Activision said during the game’s announcement. Call of Duty Warzone Mobile is expected to release sometime in 2023. Pre-registration is currently ongoing for both iOS and Android versions of the game. According to Pocket-Lint, the game may have a limited release before the end of the year.
