Of course, just because Alan Wake still looks pretty, this doesn’t mean that it couldn’t use an upgrade, and that’s exactly what the Alan Wake Remastered aims to do. With an October release date confirmed, it appears that the remaster will arrive just in time for Halloween.
The long-rumored Alan Wake Remastered has finally been confirmed
The original Alan Wake game is widely considered one of the best horror games ever. Although the game hasn’t gotten a sequel yet, its following has only grown over the years. In fact, it’s following only increased when Remedy Entertainment released Control back in 2019 and then later published a DLC connecting the events of Alan Wake with Control. Then, earlier this year, Remedy confirmed the existence of the Remedy Connected Universe, which fueled the talks of a follow-up to the 2010 title. Although the sequel is finally in full production, a remaster of the original Alan Wake game wasn’t as talked about outside of an earlier leak. As it turns out, that leaked intel happened to be true. What makes the announcement particularly interesting for PlayStation fans is that this marks the first time that owners can play Alan Wake on a PlayStation, because the first game was exclusive to the Xbox 360 and the PC. This is excellent news for gamers who are waiting on Abandoned. As we’ve already mentioned, Alan Wake is a game that holds up surprisingly well. Despite its age, the game’s mechanics remain relatively unexplored by other games. Alan Wake’s clever use of darkness and light, as well as its engrossing narrative, make the relatively unknown horror game feel just as fresh today as it was when it was first released in 2010. TLDR; Alan Wake is easily one of the most original horror games of all time, and you owe it to yourself to give it a try. As for Remedy Entertainment, the Finnish video game development company currently has its hands full working on multiple titles. In addition to the “unconfirmed” Alan Wake sequel, Remedy is also busy developing a Control multiplayer spin-off and sequel. With that said, the release of Alan Wake Remastered (along with its post-launch content) should give horror fans something to sink their teeth into. Most are probably busy waiting for updates on Abandoned, the rumored Silent Hill remake from Bloober Team, and new DLCs for Resident Evil Village.
