Having said that, Blizzard has an uncharacteristically eventful few years ahead. At the moment, Blizzard is working on Overwatch 2, Diablo 4, and Diablo Immortal. Blizzard intends to release all three within a year or two of one another. In addition, Blizzard’s next project is an unnamed survival game. But, as it turns out, Blizzard is still hiding one more trick up its sleeve. According to Jez Corden, who works for Windows Central, Blizzard’s recent announcement surprised him. But, as he explains, what jumped out for him was that he expected Blizzard to reveal a different game. Corden cites his sources at Blizzard, saying that he did not know about the Diablo maker’s survival IP. Instead, he only knew about something else that Blizzard had been working on. Understandably, Corden couldn’t share more details about Blizzard’s unannounced title without facing legal repercussions. Of course, this hasn’t stopped the community from making assumptions. Some are even going as far as to speculate that Blizzard is sitting on a new StarCraft game, which, wouldn’t be a bad idea given that the RTS title used to be the studio’s bread and butter. Unlike most studios that announce their games several years before they are eventually released, Blizzard prefers to drop news once there’s enough of a game to show off. Given that Blizzard has a robust roadmap of confirmed titles for the foreseeable future, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to believe that the studio has a few secrets tucked away. Unfortunately, Blizzard’s mysterious nature suggests that it will be years before we ever find out more about the game Corden is talking about. Until then, Blizzard has a lot of work to do. Activision Blizzard is currently under heavy scrutiny following reports of toxicity and harassment within the workplace. Many are hoping that Microsoft’s eventual takeover following the acquisition earlier this year will help. Unfortunately, the deal will not close until mid-2023. This means that Activision Blizzard still has at least one more year to try and fix itself under the current leadership.
