In fact, Kevin Feige, who is basically the man pulling all the strings behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has reportedly shared his thoughts about the entire fiasco. The report claims that Feige “pressure Disney against the day and date plan for Black Widow.” Black Widow premiered in theaters and Disney+ Premiere Access simultaneously on June 29, 2021. The latest MCU movie broke pandemic box office records during its opening weekend. However, multiple sources claim that ticket sales plummeted by more than half in its second weekend due to streaming availability and piracy. Recent estimates suggest that Disney’s dual premiere decision cost Johansson more than $50 million in earnings.
