Unlike before, Epic Games Store is giving away Alien Isolation on PC for a longer period of time. Instead of the one-day run that the game had as a free title during the holiday season in 2020, players will have a week to redeem Alien Isolation on PC for free starting on April 22.
Scare Yourself Out of Your Wits With Alien Isolation
Alien Isolation on PC is yours to keep and download free as long as you have an Epic Games Store account, which is also free to create, by the way. You’ll have until April 29 to get your hands on Creative Assembly’s 2014 survival horror title free of charge. Alien Isolation is widely considered one of the best games to release in the 2010s. It’s arguably the best Aliens-licensed game ever to release. Many praised the game for its level designs, as well as clever use of sound and visuals. This all culminated in a haunting atmosphere in which players can’t help but feel scared out of their wits. However, many criticized the game for its challenge and difficulty, although you could argue that this choice was for the better. The enemy alien AI really helped set the tone for the rest of the game. All in all, many simply appreciated Alien: Isolation for giving fans a good Aliens game after Gearbox Software failed miserably with Aliens: Colonial Marines just a year before. Epic Games giving away Alien Isolation also comes at just the right time, as another Aliens game is expected to release soon. However, unlike the claustrophobic survival horror title, Aliens: Fireteam by Cold Iron Studio is a more action-packed affair. It’s a third-person co-op shooter where players can team up with each other or AI teammates. Aliens: Fireteam has a mid-2021 release window for the PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, as well as the Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.
What are the Other Epic Games Store Free Games?
Epic Games has spent the better part of the past year giving away free games. Although most of their free titles aren’t well-known, now and then, Epic steps up and gives away something big and popular. Case in point, Alien Isolation. Previously, Epic Games Store also gave away another survival horror title in Metro: Last Light back in February. With that said, giving away free games is part of Epic Games’ strategy to give Valve’s Steam platform some legitimate competition. This has, so far, caused Epic Games to burn through hundreds of millions of dollars, with the digital games distribution platform expected to cost Epic Games even more with exclusives such as the PC port of the Kingdom Hearts franchise and Hitman 3. Speaking of Epic Games, the American video game developer and publisher recently raised $1 billion in funding with $200 million coming from Sony. Yet, despite Epic Games’ close relationship with Sony, the two first-party Sony titles, Horizon: Zero Dawn and Days Gone, are not exclusive to the Epic Games Store. Both are available for purchase digitally on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
