So, while Borderlands 4 is still probably years away, fans have a reason to celebrate. It appears we won’t have to wait for too long to go back to the distant future. The sequel to 2014’s Tales from the Borderlands, the aptly titled, New Tales from the Borderlands, is coming sooner rather than later. Gearbox CEO, Randy Pitchford, joined Geoff Keighley at Gamescom 2022 to reveal more of New Tales from the Borderlands. Don’t worry, Gearbox isn’t doing this alone. The company has hired the former Telltale writers from the original game to work on the sequel. Pitchford also dropped a trailer for New Tales from the Borderlands before confirming that the follow-up game is coming out on October 21 for all major platforms. New Tales from the Borderlands will follow three unique characters: Anu, Octavio, and Fran. The unlikely trio will go up against all kinds of enemies from a vault monster to a group of capitalists as well as a planetary invasion. Of course, just like Tales from the Borderlands, the sequel will value player choices and their effect on the story. If you pre-order New Tales from the Borderlands, you’ll get the Adventure Capital Pack. This contains cosmetics for all the three main characters and 10,000 units of in-game currency. On top of this, you’ll get a collectible, the FL4K Vaultlander. Also, if you haven’t played the original Tales from the Borderlands game, the deluxe edition, which costs $50, comes with a digital copy of the 2014 title. Speaking of Borderlands, there’s still the star-studded live-action adaptation that’s coming at an undefined date. Although fans remain skeptical about its quality, Eli Roth confirmed last year that the Borderlands movie is for everybody. The last we heard, Lionsgate is aiming for a 2022 release date for the film.
